Michael Gutting’s practice focuses on State and Federal tax controversy work. He represents clients on matters before the Internal Revenue Service which include: audits; appealing audits; taking matters to U.S. Tax Court; penalty abatement; innocent spouse relief; Offers in Compromise; installment agreements; and getting clients placed in Currently Not Collectible status.
As an Associate of Gensburg Calandriello & Kanter, P.C., Mike’s decade-long tenure with the firm is a testament to his deep knowledge and understanding of the U.S. Tax Code. As part of the firm’s state tax practice, Mike leads cases before the Illinois Department of Revenue related to sales tax audits, appeals, penalty abatement, Offers in Compromise, and payment plans.
Prior to starting his legal career, he was employed as a Tax Consultant and Illinois Certified Public Accountant by the Chicago Division of Deloitte Tax LLP (formerly Deloitte & Touche LLP).
