On March 23 and May 5, 2019, Gary Kanter, principal at Gensburg Calandriello & Kanter, P.C., attended the Wills for Heroes program sponsored by the Chicago Bar Association. The event is held at the Chicago Police Headquarters located at 3510 South Michigan Avenue and occurs seven or eight times throughout the year. During the program, essential estate planning documents are prepared, free of charge, for local veterans and first responders, including spouses. This includes preparation of a Will, a Power of Attorney for Property and a Power of Attorney for Health Care. During the three hour event, Gary assisted Chicago Police and Firemen with preparing their estate plans. These individuals give so much of their lives to the community often without asking for anything in return. Wills for Heroes is an easy way for law students and attorneys, young and old, to give back to our nation’s veterans and first responders.
